I HOLD MY HAND IN MY OTHER HAND

The intuitive sculpture series explroes grief as both an emotional and physical terrain. Transitioning from an inward, reflective practice to a more outwardly expressive approach, the project considers cycles of grief as a choreography—an unfolding of gestures, postures, and spatial movements. Sculptures are constructed from foraged willow branches, chosen for their pliability and responsiveness. Each piece emerged through an intuitive process, embracing unpredictability and material dialogue as a reflection of grief’s instability.

Rather than static objects, the sculptures act as records of emotional motion—gestures of holding and being held. The title, drawn from ‘The Choreography of Grief’, a poem by Sara Elkamel . This phrase anchors the work in a quiet gesture of self-support, evoking the cyclical and embodied nature of mourning— how we carry ourselves through loss, and how form can become an embodiment for that holding.
